If you are making the decision to buy a franchise license make sure that you aren't doing it for the wrong reasons.
Buying a franchise license is not the same as taking a job. It will require a serious investment of time and energy to create success. This of course will impact your lifestyle and so including your family in the decision making process is essential.
This is the advice given by Tim Slesinger and Nigel Dawson 2 of the 3 Co-Founders of easyStorage at the end of this episode. We also talk about:
- Having the right people around you
- The effect of exposure to entrepreneurs at an early age
- Making and learning from mistakes
- Introducing Boots to a franchising model
- What makes a business franchise-able
- Subscription based business models
- Approaching a virgin market
- An accidental meeting that went really well
- And much, much more!
Nigel also mentions a very inspiring story and you can find a link to the book here - https://www.chrismoon.co.uk/one-step-beyond/

The value of time is priceless.
You can't buy time, but you can buy services that buy time and it's a truth that we all forget sometimes as we take on tasks in our lives that take away from the things that are important to us.
It's a topic very close to Victoria Rothwell, Founder of The Beautiful Method, who has created a business that not only helps others to claim back time, but also helped her to spend time with her children as she built her business.
We discuss this in detail as we explore her career journey from the Fashion industry to owner of a successful Housekeeping business.
We also talk about:
- Starting a business with children
- The time it takes to start a business
- Re-entering the business world after having kids
- A Mary Poppins level of service
- Creating a strong personalisation
- Kids on Zoom
- How to research franchises
- And much, much more!

Fast forward to today and the brand is now franchised with 86 franchisees based across the UK running around 2,000 classes a week for 25,000 children. The company has also gone global with licences in Singapore and Australia.
We learn more about her journey and the Babyballet business as well as talking about:
- A TV appearance with Wayne Sleep
- Futures shaped by early career experiences

There are no guarantees in business and investing in a franchise is no different.
However, You can reduce the risk by really getting underneath the skin of a business. Do the research and get to know their team. Get to know who they are looking for and what it takes to be successful.
Research the numbers as well, but just make sure that you know if you are a good fit for this business before you make any commitments.
After a bad experience in her past career Claire Harris, Founder of Pets 2 Places, is now keen for everyone not to make the same mistakes that she did. We talk about this in an open and honest way on this weeks episode and also cover:
- Using a negative experience to build a more positive future
- Why you should always be yourself
- Getting the right people to support you as you grow
- The dangers of transporting pets
- Being an innovator in new industry

Do you ever research other countries for holiday and discover that a location you've never considered before was actually ideal?
Most people spend hours, days or even weeks considering which holiday is best for their next trip abroad. It makes sense you don't want to get there and it be a massive disappointment.
It seems obvious, but the same logic should also be applied when researching which franchise business to buy into.
In other words don't focus on just one sector, a restaurant business for example. Broaden you search and keep an open mind about other sectors. There may just be the ideal business off the beaten track that suits you perfectly.
We talk about exactly this with Jimmy St. Louis, ex-NFL player and Founder of Franchise 123, who is today helping aspiring franchise owners narrow down their search and find the ideal business future.
We also talk about:
- Taking a personal approach in business
- Which sectors look to be successful in 2022
- The relationship between sports and business
- The need for sales in business ownership
